Cradle Cap, Atopic Eczema and Seborrhoeic Eczema by Broyde McDonald
Cradle cap can sometimes lead to other forms Of Eczema. Two forms of eczema that are closely associated with cradle cap are atopic eczema and seborrhoeic eczema. Here we consider them all briefly.
What is atopic eczema?
Atopic Eczema Is a form of eczema that is obtained by a person through his genes. Atopic illnesses also include asthma and hay fever, as well as eczema.
Atopic eczema is one of the more easily controlled or managed forms of eczema. The main thing you have to do when you have atopic eczema is to treat your surroundings for dust mites. Dust mites will be by far the primary trigger that set will set off eczema flares in atopic eczema sufferers.
Seborrhoeic eczema
Dandruff is another name for seborrhoeic Dermatitis. Like other Eczemas it flares when it is acted upon by cold dry air. When this eczema is severe it itches and affects other parts of the body other than just the scalp. It can affect any part of the body where there are sebaceous glands.
Treating seborrhoeic dermatitis is different from treating the other Types Of Eczema. You will need a treatment that will exfoliate the skin, and help it to get rid of dead skin that the sebaceous glands are making stick to the body.
Along with a treatment that exfoliates you may also find that washing your body with a dandruff shampoo will also help you get seborrhoeic dermatitis under control.
Cradle cap
Cradle cap is a form of eczema that affects babies under one year old. In older persons it is called seborrhoeic dermatitis. Cradle cap is not contagious, and is not tormenting like other forms of eczema.
The treatment for cradle cap is relatively simple. You wash the baby’s hair in a baby shampoo and using a soft brush or wash cloth, you brush away the loosened scales. You will then continue to moisturize the baby’s scalp and as more scales come loose they are brushed away.
One bad thing about cradle cap is that sometimes when it clears up atopic eczema sets in.
